Challenge
Create an online database-driven Certified Products Directory (CPD) that previously existed as a print catalog.
Solution
We used a combination of SQL, ColdFusion, Ajax, and HTML to create a searchable, sortable CPD with different levels of access and capabilities by three users: manufacturers, consumers and the Administrator. Used ColdFusion to create dynamic PDFs of certificates that can’t be manipulated or modified.
Results
• The Manufacturers have the ability to update, add and delete products in real-time, and submit online new Certification materials for approval. They can also designate some of their data as private and confidential so it will not be returned by a consumer search.
• Existing products can be modified but a version of all modifications is always archived and available to the Manufacturer and Administrator.
• Consumers can search and sort a variety of fields to find the product that meets their needs.
• ColdFusion uses the data to dynamically create PDF and HTML certificates for each certified product.
• The Administrator can add and delete Manufacturers or limit their access.
• The Administrator has complete access to all products and can add, edit, and delete products, and add certification.
• The new CPD produces reports and analyzes data both online, and in an Excel format. Manufacturers and the Administrator can generate appropriate reports.
• Both the manufacturers and Administrator can “copy” an existing product to make a new product with modifications.
